The Photographer Directory · the index over the photographer networks

You know what you need. This is the page that tells you which address to type.

There are thirteen photographer network addresses in this fleet, each one built for a different trade, and a person who needs one of them should not have to guess at a subdomain to find it. That is the whole job of this page: take what you need, or what you shoot, and hand back the exact address in one decision — and then show you the honest, dated state of that address before you click it, instead of linking blind and hoping.

This is an index, not a storefront. There is no roster on it, no listing, no profile, no review, no rating, no ranking, and nothing for sale — and there never will be. Here is why, in writing.

The problem this page exists to solve, stated plainly

An owned fleet of specialist addresses has a failure mode that a single big site does not: the addresses are excellent and nobody can find them. A person who needs someone to photograph a newborn does not sit down and reason their way to a domain name. They type the first thing they think of, land somewhere adjacent, and either settle for the wrong specialist or leave. The specialist address was right there and it may as well not have existed.

The second failure mode is worse, and this page was written because it happened on this very domain. Before this page existed, thephotographer.directory was not dark. It resolved, it served about a hundred and fifty kilobytes of perfectly valid page, and that page was a K-12 school-operations pitch belonging to an entirely different product. A working photographer who typed the address got a confident, well-built, completely wrong answer. That is worse than a domain that does not answer at all, because a domain that does not answer tells the visitor the truth.

So this page does two things that a link list does not. It routes, on the visitor’s terms rather than ours — by what they need or by what they shoot, not by our internal taxonomy. And it reports, honestly and with a date attached, what state each address is actually in, so that a link on this page is never a claim we have not measured.

Start from what you need — or from what you shoot

The same table works from both sides, which is deliberate. A client reads the left column as “what I want photographed”. A photographer reads it as “what I shoot”, and the address in the middle column is the one they would claim to be found under. The right column is the part most directories leave out: why this address and not the one above it. Adjacent trades are the ones people get wrong, so the boundary is written down rather than implied.

Thirteen addresses. Read the left column to route yourself; read the right column when two rows look the same and you need to know which is which.
What you need, or what you shootThe addressWhy this one and not the row above
A sitting for one person or one family -- studio, on location, or at home.portraitphotographer.network
Portrait Photographer Network
Portrait work is built around the person in front of the camera: posing, lighting and rapport are the craft, and the session is scheduled rather than chased.
A single day where the moments do not repeat -- a conference, a gala, a corporate function, a milestone.eventphotographer.network
Event Photographer Network
Event work is coverage under time pressure. The specialist skill is anticipating a moment and being in the right place before it happens, not arranging one.
A wedding, an engagement session, or an elopement.weddingphotographer.network
Wedding Photographer Network
A wedding is an event with a fixed narrative, two families, and a delivery expectation measured in albums. It is close to event work and still its own trade.
A team, a league, a season, or a single game day.sportsphotographer.network
Sports Photographer Network
Long-lens work at speed, in bad light, with the outcome decided in a tenth of a second. Nothing else on this list has the same equipment or the same failure mode.
Product, brand, food or editorial images shot to a written brief.commercialphotographer.network
Commercial Photographer Network
Commercial work answers to a brief and a usage licence rather than to a person's likeness. The deliverable is a file that a catalogue or a campaign can use.
Interiors and exteriors for a property listing or an architectural portfolio.realestatephotographer.network
Real Estate Photographer Network
A space, not a person. The specialist skill is showing a room honestly -- correcting for lens distortion and mixed light without inventing a room that is not there.
A body of work, a portfolio, an exhibition, or print sales.fineartphotographer.network
Fine Art Photographer Network
The photographer is the client's reason for buying. This address is built around the work itself and around selling a print, not around booking a session.
Editorial, lookbook or campaign work with styling, hair and a crew.fashionphotographer.network
Fashion Photographer Network
Fashion is a produced shoot: a call sheet, a team, and a set of images that have to sit together as a story. It is commercial work with a different production shape.
A newborn, maternity, or first-year session.newbornphotographer.network
Newborn Photographer Network
The specialist knowledge is safety and patience with an infant, and a session that runs on the baby's clock. It is portrait work with a materially different practice.
A studio or on-location session with an animal, or an adoption-day shoot.petphotographer.network
Pet Photographer Network
An unposeable subject. The craft is reading an animal and shooting fast, and it does not transfer from human portrait work as cleanly as it looks.
A senior-portrait session, arranged by the family or alongside a school.seniorphotographer.network
Senior Photographer Network
A senior session is a portrait with a deadline attached to a publication. It sits between private portrait work and school work, so it has its own address.
School photography as a trade -- picture day, groups, and the grade bands around them.schoolphotographer.network
School Photographer Network
The only address on this list where the subject is a roster of children, so it is the only one where consent, suppression and school process are the load-bearing part of the job.
You work across more than one of the above, or the client does not know which one they need yet.professionalphotographer.network
Professional Photographer Network
The generalist address. It is the CLAIMABLE storefront for a photographer who does not fit one discipline -- a product to own, which is exactly what this index is not.

Two rows on this table are umbrellas rather than specialties — the school row is the only one whose subject is a roster of children, and the last row is the generalist storefront for a photographer who works across several of the others. Everything else is a single trade.

The honest state of every address on this page

This is the part no listing site does, and it is the reason to use this page rather than a bookmark. Every address above is probed out of band by a named job, and this page reads that probe at the moment you load it rather than baking a result into the page. What you get is the page title the probe actually read, or the word unknown with the reason attached. There is no green dot here, because a green dot is a claim and this page only reports readings.

This reading was taken at 2026-09-16T06:00:42Z, which is 5 hours ago against a 72 hour horizon. Its own freshness grade is FRESH.

  • portraitphotographer.network no title readThe probe reached the DNS layer for this address but recorded no page title, so this page will not say anything about what the address is serving. A missing title is a missing reading, not an empty page.

A row reading unknown is not a claim that the address is down. It means this page does not currently hold a reading it is willing to show you, which is a different statement and the only honest one available.

How the state above is measured, and the two traps it avoids

Most status pages are wrong in one of two specific ways, and both of them look fine from the outside. Writing down which two is the only way to show that this one is not.

Trap one: a page size is not a page

The obvious way to build this is to fetch each address and call it healthy above some byte threshold. It does not work, and we can say exactly why rather than in principle: a domain in this estate served 11,385 bytes of completely valid markup whose title was Page not found. Any size threshold reads that as alive. Worse, when a deliberately nonexistent control domain was probed with a headless browser, the browser returned a larger DOM than the real page did — its own error screen, valid markup, full weight. So this page never shows you a byte count, and it never derives a health flag from one. It shows the title, because the title is the thing that would have caught both.

Trap two: a stale reading is worse than none

The second failure is showing the last value you had and letting the visitor assume it is current. A reading with no age on it cannot be told apart from a reading that is three days old. The loader behind this page refuses that outright: past its freshness horizon a row does not fall back to the previous value, it goes to unknown, and a probe artifact that carries no parseable timestamp is treated as no artifact at all. A reading you cannot date is not a reading.

What a reading here actually covers

One layer, named. These readings are taken from the public side of the network, which is not the same thing as the origin server, and the two can legitimately disagree. A reading also describes an instant, not a state of affairs — a domain can answer at the moment of the probe and not at the moment you click. This page does not pretend otherwise, which is why it hands you a title and an age and lets you draw the conclusion.

The declared method, quoted from the artifact rather than described by us

  • Name lookup: node:dns Resolver.resolveNs(<domain>), 8s timeout, 2 tries; provider classified by NAMESERVER SUFFIX (*.ns.cloudflare.com => cloudflare, *.domaincontrol.com => registrar-park), as declared by the probe artifact itself rather than assumed by this page.
  • Page content: chrome --headless=new --dump-dom https://<domain>/ ; records the <title> TEXT and the DOM byte length, and (separately) HTTP status + final URL via node fetch. NO boolean is derived from size: our own 404 page measured 11,385 bytes of valid DOM. Live := the <title> matches the product's EXPECTED title (see expectedTitleSource); a title alone is NOT liveness. No certificate check is stripped, again quoted from the artifact.

If you are the photographer: what claiming one of these addresses actually gets you

Each address in the table is a real, unclaimed national domain, and the first photographer or studio to claim one runs it as their own branded storefront. That is a genuinely different offer from a listing on somebody else’s site, and it is worth being precise about the difference rather than selling it.

An address, not a row in a list

A claim gives you the domain as your front door, with your own name on it and your own portfolio under it. You are not the fourteenth result on a page that also sells ads to the other thirteen. There is no position to lose and no ranking to buy.

A branded client gallery, per booking

Delivery runs through an access-controlled gallery that a client reaches by a private link tied to their own booking — not a public album a stranger can browse, and not a shared folder link that outlives the job.

Honest verification, and only honest verification

Claiming establishes that you control this real address and a storefront under it, tied to a real work email. It is not a background check, a licence check, an insurance check or a quality rating, because the platform runs none of those. There is no badge here, and there will not be one, because a badge that stands for nothing is worse than no badge.

What it does not get you

It does not get you traffic we have not earned, an audience we do not have, or a lead we cannot show you the source of. If a claim is worth having it is because the address is the obvious thing a client would type, not because we have promised you a funnel.

Claiming happens on the address itself, not here — pick your row in the table above and claim there. If you are unsure which one fits, or you work across several, talk to us rather than guessing.

Everything the established directories do, plus the two things none of them do

This is a comparison against the model, not against a company — no competitor is named on this site, and describing a category honestly does not require naming one. The claim being made is specific and checkable: this page covers what the established photographer directories cover, drops the parts of their model that exist to be sold rather than used, and adds two capabilities the category does not have at all — a measured, dated state for every destination, and a written account of how that measurement is taken and where it can be wrong.

Read the last two rows of the middle column first. Ranking and lead capture are where a directory’s incentives usually stop matching the visitor’s, and both are absent here by design rather than by omission.
CapabilityThe established modelHere
Find a specialist by disciplineYes, usually as a filter over one large pooled list, with the same result set reshuffled per filter.Yes, and each discipline is a separate real address you can type directly, with the boundary between adjacent trades written out so you can tell two similar rows apart.
Photographer profile and portfolioYes, hosted on the directory's own domain, under the directory's brand.Yes, on a domain the photographer claims and brands as their own. The index itself holds no profile at all -- which is why nothing here can be quietly rearranged to favour whoever paid.
Ranking and placementRanked, and placement is frequently purchasable -- the ranking is a product being sold to the listee, not a service to the visitor.None. There is no ranking, no featured slot and no promoted position, so there is nothing to sell and nothing to game. The routing is by trade, and the order of the table is fixed.
Reviews and ratingsYes, typically unverifiable and easy to manufacture in either direction.None, deliberately. We are not able to verify that a review came from a real booking, so publishing one would be publishing something we cannot stand behind.
Lead captureCommon, and the lead is often the product -- sold or shared onward to several listees at once.None. This page has no lead form and captures nothing. A visitor leaves for the address they chose, and we do not learn who they are on the way out.
Live status of the destinationNot offered anywhere in this category. A dead listing sits there until somebody reports it.Offered, dated and hedged correctly -- read at request time from a named probe, shown as the title the probe actually read, and shown as unknown rather than guessed when the reading is missing or stale.
Disclosure of the measurement methodNot applicable, since nothing is measured. The probe's own declared method is printed on this page, quoted from the artifact rather than described from memory, together with the two ways a status page is usually wrong.
Client photo deliveryOut of scope for a directory -- it ends at the introduction. In scope, because each address is a working storefront: a consent-gated, access-controlled gallery reached per booking by a private link.
Consent posture for a shoot involving a childNot addressed.Addressed in writing: the adult client consents for their own family, a photo involving a minor is sellable only on that consent, and no school, class or roster framing applies here at all.
Payment on the directoryOften yes, with the directory taking a cut of the booking.No. Money is honest-off on this page: no checkout runs here, no card is charged here, and this page takes no cut of anything.

Two of those rows are subtractions rather than additions, and that is the point: a ranking you can buy and a lead you can resell are features for the listee and costs to the visitor. Removing them is the competitive move, not a gap.

What this page refuses to be, and why each refusal is load-bearing

A directory earns trust by what it declines to monetise, and a promise is only worth something if it is specific enough to catch us breaking it. Each line below is written so that you could tell, from the page alone, if we ever stopped meaning it.

  • This index will never carry a roster of photographers. A roster on the index would put us between the photographer and the client, and the moment we are in the middle the order of the roster becomes worth money. The addresses are the roster; each one belongs to whoever claimed it.

  • It will never sell placement, a featured slot, or a promoted position. There is no position to sell because there is no ranking. If we introduced one, every claim on this page about routing you by trade would quietly become a claim about routing you by who paid, and you would have no way to tell which.

  • It will never publish a review, a rating or a star. We cannot verify that a review came from a real booking. Publishing an unverifiable review is publishing something we cannot stand behind, in a category where manufactured reviews in both directions are routine.

  • It will never capture or resell a lead. There is no form on this page and nothing to submit. A directory that sells your enquiry to several listees at once is being paid by the people you were trying to choose between.

  • It will never become a storefront. The storefronts are the thirteen addresses. If this page started selling, it would be competing with the addresses it is supposed to route you to, and every routing decision on it would become suspect.

  • It will never show a green dot. A green dot is a conclusion. This page reports readings and their age and lets you draw the conclusion, because the only honest version of a status light in this system is one that is frequently, visibly unknown.

What happens after the introduction — the part a directory usually stops short of

An index that ends at the introduction leaves the most consequential part unexamined: what actually happens to the photographs. Because each address in the table is a working storefront rather than a listing, that part is answerable here, and it is answered without the tidy absolutes the category likes.

A private gallery, not an open album

A client reaches only their own gallery, through an access-controlled link tied to their own booking. It is not a public album, and it is not a shared folder link that keeps working for anyone who was ever sent it.

A busy studio day is sorted by name and time

When several clients are photographed back to back, they are matched to their own gallery by name and booking slot against the studio’s own schedule. Face matching is a capability we are building and is not turned on today. We do not claim face matching is impossible in the system — that would be untrue — we say it is off and what is used instead.

Retouching is hand-done and bounded

An optional retouch corrects colour, blemishes and lighting. It never reshapes what a person in the frame actually looks like, and it is never run through a generative model. A photograph here is a real photograph from a real shoot.

An outside print lab, disclosed rather than hidden

A physical print order can route to an outside lab to be printed, and that lab receives what the specific order needs. We will not tell you the images never leave our own system, because a print order is exactly the case where that sentence stops being true.

An adult client’s own booking — and where a child fits

Every address routed from this page except one is a private commercial booking between adults. That matters for what this page is allowed to say, so it is said explicitly rather than left to be inferred.

The consent is the client’s own

The person booking and consenting is an adult, for themselves or for their own family. There is no school, no class and no roster in that arrangement, and no student-records framing applies to it.

A shoot involving a child is gated on that consent

A family portrait or a child’s event may involve that family’s own children. A photograph involving a minor is sellable only when the adult client has consented, and the data behind it is gated on the same consent. The consent is the parent’s own decision, not a lookup against anybody’s record.

The one address where a school is involved is a different trade

School photography is the single row on the table whose subject is a roster of children, which is precisely why it has its own address rather than sitting inside a general portrait page. Consent, suppression and school process are the load-bearing part of that job, and they belong on that address where they can be treated properly — not summarised on an index.

Nothing on this page is a school procurement pitch

This is a trade index for photographers and the people hiring them. If you arrived looking for a school platform, this is not it, and this page will not try to convert you into one — serving the wrong audience a confident page is the exact defect this address was fixed to stop doing.

How the money works, honestly

This index costs nothing to use, carries no advertising, and takes no cut of anything that happens after you leave it. It is not free because we are generous about it; it is free because it has no product to sell you. The revenue in this system sits on the claimed addresses, not on the page that points at them, and keeping those two things apart is what makes the routing on this page trustworthy.

On a claimed address the model is: a photograph is sellable only when the client has consented, every item is priced above a cost floor enforced in code so nothing can sell below cost, and the claiming studio keeps the larger leg of each sale. The specific numbers are set with that studio at onboarding rather than fixed on a national page.

Money on this page is honest-off. The model above is real and described plainly, but no checkout runs here, no card is charged here, and the rails that charge a card are in early access. If a page ever tells you it is taking a payment on this domain, something has changed that this paragraph does not cover, and you should not proceed.

This is a for-profit business, not a charity. Nothing here is a charitable gift and nothing on it is framed as a deductible donation.

Common questions, including the awkward ones

How is this different from the generalist address in the last row of the table?

The generalist address is a storefront that exactly one photographer or studio claims and runs as their own front door -- it has a portfolio, it takes bookings, it is a product you own. This page is an instrument. Nobody claims it, it holds no profile, it sells nothing, and its entire output is a routing decision plus a measured state with an age attached. If you want to be found, claim an address. If you want to find the right address, start here.

Why is there no list of photographers on a page called a directory?

Because a list on this page would put us between you and the photographer, and the order of that list would immediately be worth money to the people in it. The thirteen addresses are the directory; each is claimed and branded by the photographer who runs it. That structure means there is no position to buy and nothing for us to quietly reorder.

The state next to an address says unknown. Is it down?

No -- unknown is not a claim about the address, it is a statement about this page. It means the probe artifact is missing, does not cover that address, or is older than the freshness horizon, so there is no reading this page is willing to show you. Showing you the last value we had, undated, would be the dishonest option and is exactly what the loader behind this page refuses to do.

Why show a page title instead of a simple up or down light?

Because up and down cannot be measured from here without lying. A domain in this estate served over eleven thousand bytes of valid markup whose title was "Page not found", and when a deliberately nonexistent control domain was probed with a headless browser the browser returned a larger page than the real one -- its own error screen. Any size or status threshold calls both of those alive. The title is the field that catches them, so the title is what you get.

Is the state on this page live at the moment I am reading it?

The artifact is read at the moment the page is built for you, but the measurement inside it was taken when the probe last ran, and the page prints that time and its age so you can judge it. A probe describes an instant. An address can answer when the probe ran and not when you click, and no status page can honestly promise otherwise.

Are the photographers on these addresses verified or background-checked?

No, and no page in this fleet claims they are. The platform runs no background-check bureau, no licence check and no vetting service, so there is no verified badge anywhere here. What claiming an address establishes is that a photographer controls that real address and a branded storefront under it, tied to a real work email. That is a genuine identity signal and it is not a substitute for looking at the work and agreeing terms in writing.

Can I pay a photographer, or buy anything, on this page?

No. There is no checkout on this page, no card is charged here, and this page takes no cut of anything that happens on the addresses it routes to. The rails that charge a card are in early access.

Will you sell my enquiry to several photographers at once?

There is no enquiry to sell. This page has no lead form and captures nothing; you leave for the address you chose. A directory that resells an enquiry is being paid by the very people you were trying to choose between, which is the conflict this page is built to avoid.

Two rows in the table look like the same job. How do I choose?

That is what the right-hand column is for, and the adjacent pairs are the ones worth reading closely: a wedding is an event with a fixed narrative and an album expectation; a newborn session is portrait work run on an infant's clock with safety as the specialist skill; fashion is commercial work with a produced crew; a senior portrait sits between private portrait work and school work. When two rows still look identical for your job, either address will get you a photographer who can do it.

Is this a school picture-day service?

No. One of the thirteen addresses is the school photography trade and it is the only one whose subject is a roster of children, which is why it is a separate address rather than a section here. Everything else routed from this page is a private booking between adults, with no class, no roster and no student-records framing anywhere in it.

Can a booking involve children?

Yes -- a family portrait or a child's event. The booking and the consent are always the adult client's own decision. A photograph involving a minor is sellable only when that adult has consented, and the data behind it is gated on the same consent. It is a private family arrangement, not a school program and not a lookup against a record.

Do the photographs go to an outside company?

A photograph is never sold without the client's own consent. A physical print order can route to an outside print lab to be printed, and that lab receives what the specific order needs rather than a standing feed of everything. We disclose that instead of claiming an unbroken in-house perimeter, because the claim would be false in exactly that case.

Are any of these images AI-generated?

No. A photograph here is a real photograph from a real shoot. An optional retouch is hand-done, corrects colour, blemishes and lighting, never reshapes what a person actually looks like, and is never run through a generative model.

I typed this domain before and got a page about school software. What happened?

That was a real defect and this page is the fix. The domain resolved and served a complete, valid page belonging to a different product entirely, because it had no page of its own and fell through to a default. It is written up in the second paragraph of this page rather than quietly corrected, because a live address serving the wrong brand is worse than an address that does not answer -- the visitor gets a confident wrong answer instead of an honest silence.

What this page is and is not claiming

The Photographer Directory is an index, not a marketplace and not a storefront. It holds no roster, no listing, no profile, no review, no rating and no ranking; it captures no lead and runs no form; and nothing on it is for sale. The thirteen addresses it routes to are real owned domains, and each is unclaimed until a photographer or studio claims it and runs it as their own branded storefront — so this page invents no member count, no booking count and no named photographer, because there is no roster behind it to describe. Verification is honest: claiming an address establishes that a photographer controls that address and a storefront under it, tied to a real work email; it is not a background check, a licence check or a vetting service, the platform runs none of those, and there is no verified badge anywhere in this fleet. The state shown beside each address is a reading from an out-of-band probe, read when this page was built, printed with its own timestamp and age, and shown as unknown — never as a last-known value and never as a green light — when it is missing, absent from the artifact, or past its freshness horizon. No liveness figure is written into this page’s source; every one of them comes from that loader at request time, because a committed snapshot of a mutable reading is wrong the day a host changes and looks authoritative anyway. Those readings are taken from the public side of the network, which is not the origin, and they describe an instant rather than a state of affairs. On the addresses themselves, delivery is a consent-gated, access-controlled gallery reached per booking by a private link, face matching is a capability we are building and is not turned on today rather than absent, retouching is hand-done and never generative, and a physical print order can route to an outside print lab — we do not use the tidy absolute that images never leave our systems, because a print order is exactly where it stops being true. The client booking and consenting is always an adult; a booking may involve that family’s own children, and a photograph involving a minor is sellable only on that adult’s own consent, with no school, class, roster or student-records framing anywhere on this page. Money is honest-off: no checkout runs here, no card is charged here, and this page takes no cut of anything downstream of it. This is a for-profit business, not a charity. No competitor is named anywhere on this site, no statistic is quoted that was not measured by a named instrument on this estate, and no client, photographer or testimonial on this page is invented, because there are none on it at all.
